Story

I have decided to take part in this trek which I believe will be the most challenging event I will have ever taken part in. I mean jumping out of a plane was pretty easy so now I need a challenge. I have plans on walking 15miles every Sunday to help me prepare for the trek, so why am I doing this.. Back in 2014 my best friend my Mum was diagnosed with Myeloma which was the hardest thing I have every dealt with, seeing my mum go through chemo and having part of her spine removed. My mum firstly went to Thorpe Hall in 2016 around Easter time to have rest bite, my mum was at her lowest at this point her cancer came back very aggressive and all my mum wanted was to see her first gran child been born, Thorpe Hall manage to ensure my mum was pain free and she also had lots of support from the team. It was amazing being able to take my mum out around the grounds and just spending time with her rather than helping her with medication. My mum then came back into Thorpe Hall in July where she would gain her angel wings, again this was a really hard time being there knowing my mum wouldn't be coming home and saying my final good bye, I remember opening my heart to my mum on the evening of the 5th July 2016 after painting her toe nails and just letting her know how amazing she was, how I am so proud to call her my mum, she took her final breath at 10:20PM I had my last cuppa tea with my mum which the nurses made me and said my final good bye before she was moved to the chapel of rest. After my mums death myself and dad went to family counseling session which were very helpful and I have since decided to fundraise to ensure all families get the support and memories I have made.
